Style A is ribbed and styles B and C are garter stitch.
Style A is a real cold weather hat.
Style B is more of a "skater style" unisex hat.
Style C uses 2 strands of contrasting colors to produce a tweedy effect and a firmer stylish design.
Any one of them is a good project to try knitting in the round and using double pointed needles.
An experienced knitter can knit up a hat in an evening.
