I call this the “Hour Glass Cardigan” because that is what you knit to create this untraditional cardigan.
The circular shape creates a long back, large shawl collar and bolero type front. It is designed in such a way that there is minimal shaping and finishing.

You knit an hour glass shape that is folded in half to create the body of the cardigan. Starting at the bottom, knit in 2X2 ribbing, change to 1X1 ribbing and then back to 2X2 ribbing. Stitches are picked up around the armhole edges and the ¾ length sleeves are knit down to a flared bottom. The sleeves are knit in the round to eliminate seams.

All techniques used are clearly described in the stitch glossary. Recommended for the advanced beginner to intermediate knitter.
